Washington (cnn) - the United States moves to issue an explicit for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to resign, call to U.S. sources Government said Tuesday CNN.

The move should be announced in the coming days after U.S. authorities consult with United Nations Security Council, the sources said.

The question of whether to call for al-Assad to resign was under discussion in recent weeks, the sources said.

Officials described the White House as being more willing to make the announcement while the State Department is more prudent ramifications should al-Assad reflect not the appeal.

In addition, the Security Council is expected Wednesday to follow the presidential statement last week that ordered the Syrian Government violence against peaceful demonstrators and called for the immediate end of violence by all parties.

But no immediate escalation of this statement is expected, because the Russia and China, whose representatives feel that it is not the role of the Security Council to get involved in what they describe as in matters of Internal Affairs of member countries - would probably not agree.

Instead, the new package would likely impose new sanctions of the Department of the Treasury on the members of the family, companies and representatives of the Government related to the regime, said an official of the Government involved in the deliberations which was unable to speak of attribution.

"Treasury is poised to announce more sanctions this week targeting the key elements of trade and the Syria financial infrastructure providing essential to the regime support," said the official.

In addition, it would be new measures to further isolate the Syria of the international community, the sources said.
